The question about how many Amigas have sold in a period and how many pieces of
software have been written for it in that same period is specious. Back when
the PET and the APPLE II came out there was a MUCH smaller audience making the
total numbers possible to sell (or write) equally smaller. Both companies
helped to break open the personal computing market and deserve some measure of
recognition.
Your Amiga patriotism is laudable but mis-placed. The Amiga, as we both know,
is a noteworthy addition to the personal computing market. While it has not
taken the world by storm it has done well I hear. (Good! I don't want another
orphan in its own time.) How many Amigas, or how many programs (mostly
forgetable games unfortunately) is not as important as how many problems are
solved. The Amiga has solved many of my problems but I can see how it hasn't
done a good enough job for many others.
