Rick, We have now come to the crux of this issue. That is the very essence of my argument. If Notepad is so obviously bad, then why was it included with AmigaDOS? You might say that it was thrown in for free, so to speak, and shouldn't really be taken seriously. Then what purpose does it serve to have it, other than to make the Amiga seem like a poor performer? Just like a synthesizer that is really only as good its patches, a computer is only as good as its software. If there was NO software support for the Amiga, then it really wouldn't be worth owning no matter how good its hardware was. In a similar vein, if most Amiga software is written by inattentive or lazy programmers, then the Amiga is just going to be as good as that software. This means the Amiga is not operating at its full potential most of the time. That's really too bad because I really like the computer. Dom Fontana
