In other words, Jon, what you're saying is that a good typographer will
take the functions of kerning, tracking, wordspacing, leading, and maybe
half-a-dozen other factors, and make them invisible on the final output? So
that they achieve their desired effect without calling attention to
themselves? Yeah!!! One of my mentors–an old hot-metal man–still claims
that good typography doesn't call attention to itself…and bad typography
screams.
