I agree . . . I have Tom Jennings' SCAVENGE which was apparently written
for generic MS-DOS v.2 or 3, and Suitable Solutions' HDSCAN which was
distributed with a package of "fixes" for Rainbow DOS 2.11. Now that I'm
running v.3.10b, one of my hard disk blocks seems to be going bad. Both
SCAVENGE and HDSCAN detected a bad block — but one detected block 140 and
the other detected block 156! I think it's block 140, and the difference
may be the result of the way Suitable designed v.3.10b to fit Code Blue.
Neither program seems to havmapped out the bad block, so it keeps
reappearing. WUTIL doesn't work at all with my 3.10b, I don't have the old
3.10, and I don't want to try running WUTIL under v.2.11 because I don't
know how it will look at my hard disk which was formatted under 3.10b's
FDISK.
What's a user to do?
