music and MIDI

Jeff,
Thanx for the helpful reply. I'd have better luck with real time
keyboard input than writing the music at this point. Just to start, I've
been utilizing the MUSIC program on my APPETIZER disc; and I've been
studying "LEARN TO READ MUSIC", by Howard Shanet, which is a small but
extremely concise and informative book. I understand the basics, and I
think I understand the time signature, but when I try to notate what I hear
in my head, it always prompts me for "Time ?" after the first few measures,
and I don't get how it's good for the first few measures, and then screws
up. I just have more to learn.
I started writing poetry about 22 years ago, and as I grew and became
interested in music, I began to shape my poetry into song lyrics, and with
most, I hear the music in my head. Now I write poems, songs, stories, just
about anything that comes to mind. Again, thank-you for your interest and
keep in touch.

Jeff,
I'd second the recommendation for Bars & Pipes. It has some features that
are particularly oriented to musical composition. There is a demo version
in the DL's here. You might want to check it out. I believe it's called
BARS.ZOO, and should be in the Audio/MIDI Utilities DL. (I haven't had a
chance to check since the forum reorganization, though. Get back to me if
you can't find it.)
Hope this helps. 8)
