I have an A1000 with the AX2000 Comspec 2 megger + 1.5 meg Spirit Inboard
inside the A1000, plus the Compsec SCSI controller with a 142 meg
Micropolis hard drive.
If you have the Comspec memory board slapped onto the side of your A1000, I
would definitely go the Compsec SCSI controller route.
This controller is 100% compatible with your AX2000 ram board, plus (the
best feature) it makes your A1000 an autobooting computer which will
automatically load in your Kickstart on power up!! It takes about 2 seconds
for Kickstart to load into the A1000. Kickstart resides on your hard
drive!!
Comspec is located in Toronto (just 20 minutes from my house), so you may
have to mail order it, but maybe there's a dealer near you that will get it
for you. Now that the A1000 Peripherals are more scarce as the days go on,
you should get the controller as soon as you can before they stop producing
the A1000 peripherals.
