I patched cbmser.device as per your message, and it worked great! Thanks
alot. Now for another quick question, Is there any way to specify a baud
rate when using the serial switcher sw (serial.device) upto the 57600 baud
rate that I'm using on my laser?
The way to set the rate for a laser printer is using DOS and mountlists.
See the manual which comes with the dual serial board – it described how to
set up a mountlist entry for a logical device which runs at 57600 baud.

baud rate from the serial dispatcher's requestor as well.

The serial dispatcher is a wedge for directing serial traffic only. It can
affect unit numbers and device names but not serial parameters. Sorry. Why
would you want to do that anyway?

I'm hoping you all might have a few suggestions for me.
Situation:
I have ProPage 1.3 and TAD on the Amiga side of a 2500/30, and HIJAAK on
the AT Bridge side. In the office we also have an HJ ScanJet which, I am
told, can create 8 bit gray scale images in a number of formats (TIFF and
compressed TIFF being among them.) I note that ProPage says it can handle
8 bit (256 gray scale right?) files created with scanner and or software
from you folks. Now, obviously I don't need a scanner, since we have one.
And, I really can't ask the folks at work to move the scanner so it is
hooked directly to my Amiga (it hooks into the office system through a
Novell ethernet link via the AT Bridge). Is there any way I can create an
8 bit gray scale file on the scanner via the MSDOS hardware it is currently
wired to, and then conver the file to something ProPage can use, either
through Hijaak and ASDG software in combo, or through ASDG software
directly?

Simple, just add the TIFF module to your TAD. Available directly from us.
Scan and save 256 shades of gray in TIFF, use TAD to convert to IFF. Then
read in in ProPage.

OK. I believe that I can convert TIFF 256 gray scales to IFF using Hijaak,
BUT I also believe that I will only get 16 gray scales in the IFF converted
this way.
Are you saying that TAD will create a 256 gray scale (i.e. 8 bit) IFF, AND
that ProPage _will_ know what to do with it? (And, does that mean I tell
TAD to "save 8 bit data"?)

Version 1.31 of PPage can import a 256 gray scale image (I beleive). TAD
can create same.

I believe I understand that. If I'm hearing you correctly, what you are
saying is: if I import a 256 gray scale TIFF to TAD using the TIFF loader,
AND then save it as "8 bit gray scale", THEN I should be able to import the
TAD 8 bit gray scale file directly into ProPage using the "import bitmap"
function.
Do I read that correctly?
If so, what is the cost of the TIFF module for TAD? Or, should I wait for
TAD Pro as an upgrade? (In other words, will TAD Pro a) include all these
cross format goddies, and b) come out SOON?)
