#Whap 1.9c HELP!
2 messages in this thread
Vic (& Steve) –
I'm glad (sort of) to see that I'm not the only one this happened to.
Kinda makes me think I might be sane after all 8^). It's not happening
tonight, either (same fonts, etc.) so it's definitely sporadic, whatever it
is.
I just tried an experiment – I typed 76 characters across. On the 76th
one, the first character wentr away and I got a line feed. So maybe my font
only allows 75 characters on a line even though there seemed to be enough
screen space between the last character and the border for another
character.
Anyway, it's not very important and happens rarely, so I'm not going to
worry about it. If you do find something, though, I'd be interested in
hearing about it. Later …

Harry,
That's exactly why it happens. If you have a 76 character line, use the
default font, do NOT have any overscan, View! will wrap the word (ONLY the
word, it will not do line wrap in the upper window) to the line below. I
figured line length as font_width / window_width – 2. Since I normally use
Courier 13 as my font and I'm heavily overscanned (710 rather than 640) I
didn't run into the problem. But, in a "default" configuration, you get
what you got — and no, I don't think it's acceptable. So, in the next rev
of View! a default config'ed system will display the a 76 char line (in
topaz 8) without splitting it.
