#mouse problems

Greetings, I just got a 586/60 (Pentium) that has dos 6.2 and windows 3.1, the problem is that AniPro says no mouse is present. I installed the program by copying the Ani directory from a magneto-optical disk which had a functional program because the new pc does not have a 5-1/2" drive. Any ideas folks? thanks

This might be a stupid question but… do you have a mouse driver loaded?

Since you're using DOS 6.2, you could try this test. At a DOS prompt, type EDIT <enter>. When the program is launched, see if you can use your mouse. If you can't, then Gus Grubba's comment means LOAD YOUR MOUSE! You need to find your MOUSE.COM file or its equivalent and load it in your autoexec.bat or config.sys, restart your computer, then run 3DS. If your mouse is running while EDIT is loaded, then you may have to tell us more about the brand of mouse, what error message, how is the mouse being loaded, etc., for us to help.

Nik, Thanks for your help, the problem appears to be that the company-installed dos files need to be re-installed . . . . ie even the edit command is not recognized thanks ….. we did get stuff working with AniPro jhg .. ? How can I get 24 or 32 bit color from rendered flc's?

"How can I get 24 or 32 bit color from rendered flc's?" Flic files have come under some fire for their 8 bit limitation. It's on the wishlist, though AVI files seem to have taken the lead as far as an animation format which can handle 24 bit. If you want to get 24 bit files without actually enhancing the 256 original colors, you could use 3D Studio, Video Post. This would require rendering targa files and converting them to AVI. Nik

John, << Hi color flics >> there are files DTA208.zip and DTV005.zip that were uploaded into the what's new section that will convert targas into a hicolor flic and play them. Also, HCMAKE.zip and HCPLAY.zip are another pair of utilities in the what's new section which perform the same function. jonas[adesk]
