Gee, this morning everything was copasetic, but tonight when I turned on my
18-month-old Amiga 2500, I got the Workbench Disk prompt instead of booting
from dh0:. I put in a Workbench Disk, because I like to obey prompts, but
dh0: is nowhere to be seen. I wonder what it could be. Drat.
THol,
Sounds like you might have a case of 'sticktion'. I get a similar response
fairly regularly on my HD – so much so that I run my security program,
IAMonitor, from a bootable floppy in case the power goes off while I'm
away. For me, cycling power or wiggling the HD power connector a bit gets
things going again. (Try listening for the drive to spin up. If it
doesn't, you've probably got this problem.) Sometimes I wiggle the
connector until I hear the drive start to spin, and then do a 3-finger
salute instead of powering down.
Hope this helps. 8)
