I have lost my 3D Studio manuals to Hurricane Andrew. They were at my house when the hurricane hit and it was a total loss. I had not yet mastered getting around in 3D Studio. I have looked almost everywhere for replacement books for 3D Studio ver 1.0. I am hoping that someone out there knows how I can get new copies of The 3D Studio manuals. Maybe you know the phone number to Autodesk or something. Also, If you know of any good books on 3D Studio please tell me the title and where to find them. I really appriciate it. Thanks a lot!

Ron: >> I have looked almost everywhere for replacement books for 3D Studio ver >> 1.0. Why not just update to version 2, which comes with a free set of manuals? Or just wait a month and go straight to version 3? All you need to upgrade are your original disks. Did you loose them in the Hurricane, or do you still have them? Did you register the package when you bought it? Greg Pyros

PMJI, but this brings up a question to my suspicious (well, worrisome) mind: since Autodesk only recommends insuring the hardware lock, what happens if the original disk is stolen/lost/misplaced? One of my misgivings about sending it through the mail is just this (otherwise you'd have it in hand for the upgrade) — I hate to insure it for $3K. Is the official Autodesk policy that you need to insure BOTH the disks and the lock? BTW, I'm certainly registered to AD.

Mike: >> since Autodesk only recommends insuring the hardware lock, what happens >> if the original disk is stolen/lost/misplaced? Good question! If you registered the package, Autodesk can trace it easily. As long as no one upgrades it before you let them know it has been lost, all is well in Mudville. If it's not registered, my recommendation is to first make a Xerox copy of the disk itself, then send it by traceable courier (UPS, FedEx, etc.) so you have a record of the shipment. It can then be replaced by Autodesk with very little hassle. Greg Pyros
