#Now DISINT.AXP fails!
4 messages in this thread
HELP!!! Now DISINTEGRATE isn't working right, either!! Oh, it goes
through all the motions, just like VARY.SXP did, but no go.
I've used it many a time successfully. But now, it won't move the
particles. No matter what my settings are for Initial Velocity, Velocity
Falloff, Deceleration, Gravity, Blast Center position, and the size of the
bounding box relative to the object, the particles only SHRINK. They don't
move AT ALL!! We're up against a deadline here! HELP!!!
Running DOS 6 with QEMM 7 on a LANtastic 5.0 network. But some of our
machines have a different version of DOS or QEMM, and it still happens on
those machines as well!
It's probably something silly, like not selecting boxed object or not
making the initial velocity high enough… or even not making the box
around the boxed object large enough (that controls the overall amount of
the blast's "charge"). Try that, and if it still doesn't work for you, I
might have time to look at it for a minute this evening to tell you what
you're doing wrong (you sound pretty desperate).

I DID try all of that. My boss doesn't like big CompuServe bills, so I
spent HOURS trying EVERYTHING _before_ I posted here. I've had Boxed
Object selected from the very beginning (I do know the difference), and had
Initial Velocity set to 100, Falloff set to 0, Deceleration set to 0,
Gravity set to 1, Bounce to 10, Start Frame to 150, Unite to 0, Hold to 0,
End to 150 (the total animation is 300 frames, and I wanted Disintegrate to
take place over the second half), etc. The Box is twice the linear size of
the Object in all three dimensions. I changed ALL of those parameters in
all possible combinations over the five HOURS I spent Saturday (which was
supposed to be a day off for me) trying to get it to work. But even with
zero velocity, the Gravity setting _alone_ should have caused the particles
to FALL. They didn't even do THAT!! They just HUNG there in the air and
SHRANK!! They didn't even WOBBLE despite a non-zero Min. Chaos setting!
HEEEELLLLLPPPP!!!!
I'm sure it's something you're doing wrong, but the only way for me to tell
you exactly what it is is for you to send it to me.
Zip it up with a short text file explaining exactly what you want it to do
and I'll fix it up for you and send it back today. What the heck… it's
labor day!

PS: Email the zip file to my ID# via Compuserve email.
