I just tried to read a disc of down loads and got the message-read- write error, use diskdoctor. What is diskdoctor, where do i get it and how do I use it?

Diane, DiskDoctor is a utility that comes with your system software, but this is one message from your computer that you definately do not want to follow, as DiskDoctor is a terrible program that may do far more damage than good. Instead, download DISKSALV by Dave Haynie… it is in the DISK UTILITIES library here in AmigaUser: DKSAL2.LHA

Diane, Diskdoctor is a fix-disk type program supplied with versions of Worbench up to version 2.04. I RECOMMEND that you DO NOT USE IT! Its name should really be DiskQuack! There are other ways to repair or retrieve the disk/data. Look in the libraries for DiskSalv, I think its in Disk Utilities library but you can search for it using the string lib 1 bro/lib:all/key:recover,repair Christopher

Diane, You'd better take a look at DiskSalv 2 (v11.27) Does the job much better. DiskDoctor is a program which is supposed to repair and salvage files. It was supplied with WorkBench 1.2 & 1.3. Must be in the C directory. DiskSalv2 is available here on CIS. Don't ask me where, but I've seen somewhere. Ernest Otte Still using AutoPilot v1.06
