Thanks for your comments about the 17" monitors. According to IDEK,
their model MF5017 comes with either a short or long persistence phosphor. I
spend a little time making videos and find the flicker is a pain. How long is
"long" persistence? Hasn't anyone seen the two that can comment?
You talked about a WorkBench 1280 x 1024 screen but I don't know how to
get that on one screen with an A4000-040. (Except by scrolling an oversize
picture.) IDEK say their resolution is H1024
& V 768 lines (sounds like SuperVGA) and the horizontal sync 15.5kHz (not
15.0, but low enough for PAL) to 40kHz. How does this compare with your Mag
MX17F & how much does that cost? I like the sound of the flat CRT on the IDEK.
I am currently using the IDEK 17" monitor on an Amiga 2000 (the long
persistence version). Almost all of the flicker is removed, in very high
contrast colors you can still see it but it is greatly reduced. I don't
have a flicker fixer either.
As for the resolution I use 640 X 400 laced (much smaller seems harder
to read).
I really love the monitor. One other thing, when I bought it, it had
the standared PC input. I had to buy a commodore converter to use it with
my A2000. This may not be true with other Amiga's but you should probably
ask the question. It cost about $20.
