#imagine texture maps

I have imagine for the PC, and need help finding a paint program that outputs files that can be used for the brush textures. From the Amiga manual, it only looks like there are 4 different file types acceptable for these maps. Are there any new ones with the PC release? If not,what are some decent paint programs I could either download or purchase off the shelf that imagine would accept? thanks!

I used to use Deluxe Paint III for the Amiga to create brushmaps for Imagine, but now prefer to use Imagemaster from Black Belt Systems, since it has far more powerful paint features. It also comes with pretty much everything else you might want for future image processing work. -= Vance =- Image Master Flying high on Black Belt Systems' Imagemaster!

Hi Debbie, Try GWS for Windows or DOS. It converts almost every bit mapped file to .TIF format which work with the PC version. The only thing you have to do is tell GWS to write the .TIF files uncompressed. GWS (Graphic WorkShop) is shareware and you can find it in GRAPHSUPPORT forum GRFWRK.ZIP Lib 4 (DOS version) GWSWIN.ZIP Lib 4 (Windows version). Unfortunately Imagine does not accept .TGA files ( I have all my textures as .TGA). -David

I don't have the {PC version of Imagine so don't really know what formats it accepts but if it will use GIF's try using Dpaint IIe

My wife has been using Fractal Design Painter 2.0 for Windows ($300) to create some excellent brush maps. It simulates real artist's tools (chalk, oil brush, water color, magic marker etc.) and on a 24bit display it looks REAL!!! She's used it to make some wood textures (much better than the wood texture in Imagine), patterns on furniture and a painting. It outputs PCX and Targa files, both of which I think Imagine PC can use for brush maps. You might also look at Photoshop for Windows but its a couple hundred more. Limey

I may be wrong on whether Imagine accepts PCX and Targa (.TGA) files for input but it may accept TIFF (.TIF) files. I do know it can be done. Its just a case of picking the right file format out of the billions that Painter can output to. Limey
