Well, seems like I've won a pyrrhic victory – my wife will let me buy the 4000 IF I spend an ungodly amount on some crazt purchase of her choice FIRST. Looks like I'll have to wait until Feb (income tax return time) to do anything… I think Redmond is right about the gen-purpose angle, but to own a 4000… it's like trying to pick between a sensible station wagon for the family or a convertible 2-seater that zings. – Garry

I bet you'll REALLY be happy at the news that the '30 4000s are out of production. Apparently the cost difference between the '30 and the '40 was too little after you got the math chip and extra memory to justify having both. So if you get a 4000 in Feb. it really WILL fly. <g> // -Karl \X/ Amiga and Autopilot: The *only* way to fly!

Actually, at first I was kind of frustrated – wasn't aware of the price difference – but I checked the Amigauser forum and saw a 4000/40 for sale for $1700! Gads, I hope someone is selling for that low when I'm ready to buy! It didn't have a hard drive, but these days that's no great loss – 'specially for that price! There was also a VT3.0 2000 system for $2000:) Hmmmmm…… – Garry
