I am about to do my 1st dump to betacam-sp PAL via a bureau service, but before I do the final TGA renderings I wondered on some tips for optimising the final images. for example is vblur necessary? Would 8×8 ani-ailising acutally improve the image over standard settings of 4×4. Turbo off etc for bit-map textures. I don't want to muck it up as its to expensive for me to dump a second time.

Just read through the readme.doc that comes with R2, and you'll find a section about optimal settings for video output. Note that 8×8 antialiasing will not help you much with video. Also note that in R3, things are exponentially simpler. You just turn Antiliasing ON and the quality that comes out is mathematically perfect. I know you'll have to use R2 for a bit longer (especially since you're in England), but try to get in line for R3 asap because it sounds like quality is very important to you. – G
