#VT4000 to VT2000

I presently have two Video Toasters in my production suite. I started with the
VT2000 and added a 4000 so that I could bring in graphics from another toaster
during a live shoot. My 2000 has Amilink and a host of other cards installed.
I'd like to make the 4000 the promary editing computer but am out of slots on
it.
I'd like to know the best way to make the 400o my primary system, while
connecting in my 2000 for graphics and layered effects. Any suggestions would
be helpfull.
I have a similar setup in my room. The slot issue is the biggest problem. I
purchased a Toaster Cozzy which gave me enough slots. I have the two machines
networked -and also connected to a gig hard drive which is where all
framestores, etc for both machines are kept.

Once the slot issue is solved your 4000 will be your primary system, and you
don't even need to network to use both machines to generate graphics. If you
do want to connect them for _video_ you are entering some tricky waters
technically. Your 2000 would have to be upstream of the 4000 and any inputs
that are common to both would have to be timed for re-entry.
I do not know the level of your technical knowledge re: video, but as
a broadcast pro for 15 years I can suggest that there really is not
that much to gain by linking the two videowise. I considered it, but
since the Toaster's strengths are not in the switcher/CG area there
didn't seem to be any point. On the other hand, networking them so
that I can render faster, or have someone building graphics while I
am editing has been a tremendous boon.
