#EGS-still trying
3 messages in this thread
Several LEGS are listed in the SCREENMODE program but when I select one it
doesn't work with WORKBENCH (on the 1084) – the EGS logo just sits happily on
the Compaq SVGA.
The real problem here is that I can't get any of the EGS utility programs to
open a screen – except SCREENMODEREwhich asks If I'm sure (I am) and then
thinks it has accomplished something. (It hasn't.)
NONE OF THE OTHER EGS THINGS WILL OPEN. PERIOD. THEY TRY, BUT THEY DON'T. The
manual says "if…an EGS screen does not open … refer to the Troubleshooting
section". NOTHING is mentioned about this in the Troubleshooting section.
What should I try now?
Dan,
Your last message was confusing. When you select an EGS resolution from
Workbench SCREENMODE program, Workbench should appear on the EGS screen. If it
continues to appear on the Amiga monitor, then you did not select an EGS
screenmode. If this test were to fail, you should have no Workbench at all.
The EGS-SCREENMODERESET program is doing what it's supposed to do. Your
message did not mention, however, if you tried to alter the icon as described
in my last posting. The board is ready to be used, but either not accepting or
recognizing the screenmodes. Also, did you download the 6.2 update and install
it or are you still using the older software?
GVP TECH
When I select the LEGS from Screenmode my workbench screen scrambles (on the
1084) – a couple of the settings blank the screen entirely and a couple just
cause garbage to appear. The SVGA screen remains unaffected.
I have not altered the icon because I have not found a setting that works.
Nope – I haven't downloaded new software. I'm using what came with the board —
I think it's about a year or so old judging by the filedates. Yep – I just
checked and the dates are 9-93.
I'll download the new stuff if I can hook up to the GVP BBS tonite. I had
assumed that was just nicer stuff when I seem to need something radical.
Thanks for your help – I'll be back.
