In a previous message I told you about the difficulty I was having in the use of a WANGTEK tape backup drive – attached to your 4008 card in my Amiga 4000/040. In your suggestion you said:- "Make sure that both tape drive AND the hard drives have a disconnect turned off." How do I go about doing this? What commands do I give and where do I place them? Sorry… but my knowledge of the software is rather slim. Best regards, Hilary

Hilary, There is a DISCONNECT option in ExpertPrep that can be turned off for the RDB of the hard drive. As always, backup your drive before making ANY changes to the RDB, as data could be lost during a re-write. For the tape drive, you need to add a line to your user-startup file using the GVPSCSICTRL program: GVPSCSICTRL {ID} DCOFF ({ID} is the SCSI ID number of the tape drive) Place GVPSCSICTRL in your C: directory.
