I have a tiny problem that arose on an A4000/30 this AM. It seems that I cannot print from the serial port from applications that use preferences, like SBase Pro, Ados/shell, and DirOpus… all of which I've printed from before. SBase just yesterday. However, applications that use their own drivers work fine, like WordPerfect and ProPage. The output was configured as postscript, going to a QMS PS810. Again, something that I do nearly every day. The problem first became evident when trying to print a SBase file already printed yesterday. It wouldn't. I thought the problem might be with Sbase, so I tried WP. It worked. I tried printing a small assign file from Dopus with no luck. Ditto with a directory from the shell. Ppage worked fine. Most times the printer does not even signal that it is getting any data at all… other times the data stream seems to go on endlessly with no output. BTW, the amigas are networked via Envoy (a very good product!), and after installing Sbase on an A2000 I was able to print the file from the problem A4000 via the network with absolutely no problem. Oh yes, the same printer cable was used in each test on each machine. One other thing. After replacing various files (printer, serial, port handling, etc., etc.) with no luck, I did a complete reinstall of WB3.0 from the original disks… to absolutely no avail. Same same. I am stumped.
