David: In the Magic3 dialog box, appears a slider "Gravity influence" that is not mentioned in the manual. What is i's usage? Also, I noticed that for each additional frame calculated, Magic takes longer calculating the particles (for example, in a P90, in the first frame it takes 1 sec., but at frame 60 takes about 1 minute). Does it recalculates from scratch all positions incrementally?. Thanks, Vanny

Hi Vanny, Gravity influence was added two days before Magic shipped. The manuals had already gone to press but I really liked this feature. Basically it lets you set a percentage of particles that will be affected by gravity. For example, 100 makes 100% of all particles fall according to the gravity setting. 20 makes 20% of all particles fall and so on. This helps you create the classic "Disney" effect of Tinkerbell particles. If you ever watch Disney magic trails, you'll notice that most of them hang in the air and only a few particles actually fall to earth. Regarding speed, there were some slow downs because Magic writes AXP coordinates to disk before each frame. However that problem has been fixed. Starting 09/06/94 we will be shipping Magic 1.1. It has several improvements: Much greater rendering speed. Full network capabilities. The ability to have multiple Magic AXP's in the same scene. The ability to render any frame and get accurate trails. This is a free upgrade and will be sent out automatically if you have sent in your registration card or originally ordered direct from Digimation. If you have any questions, please give me a call. (800) 854-4496 or (504) 785-3969. Thanks. David – Digimation

David, << Starting 09/06/94 we will be shipping Magic 1.1. It has several improvements: >> This obviously answers one of the questions from my recent E-Mail. Please make sure that I receive this update. I only say this because there was a problem, even though I'm registered, with receiving the auto-update with Bubbles as you may recall. I look foward to this update. Thanks, BILL
