Some more news that may be of interest for those of you (not PAR people) who
want to know about developments of disk arrays with high sustained data rates
for non-linear video solutions such as the T2k and the MAX.
As everyone should know, the Mac counterparts are way beyond the PC world in
the non-linear desktop video arena. Things like the Radius VideoVision Studio
with expensive (and not so expensive) highend disk arrays are being used for
broadcast work. The desktop video explosion on the Mac has made possible the
development of RAID disk arrays specially designed for video work (I just saw
an ad for the Raven 9GB RAID system with a 10MBPS sustained transfer rate). OK,
seems that things like the Targa 2000 or the MAX are changing the minds of this
companies. Look to this message from the Truevision forum (Tom Ransom with good
news again 🙂

We are working with a number of hard drive companies who just figured out that
the TARGA 2000 would open up the high-end disk market on the PC as the video
products did on the Mac.
Expect a number of announcements over the next couple of months from the same
companies that offer Mac solutions.
