Dear sysop, I have this continuing problem with 3d Studio. Most times that I render I get an abnormal program termination page fault cs: EIP 000fh…… this might happen after an hour or two or maybe a day or two or a minute or two or not at all. I tried typing cfig386.exe -lfu -vscan 4000, this made the problem worse, it crashed much more often. I then took a 3ds.exe from my other computer and now it doesn't crash as much. This problem has been happening ever since I started using r3. Also, it would do this even if I don't page to disk. My hardward configuration is this: EISA system 486 66mhz adaptec 1542c scsi controller micropolis 1924 drive maxtor scsi drive micropolis 2217 av drive targa 2000 board telcom pc600 timecode reader action II media video in/out card 32M Ram I tried taking the cards out it still crashes. What do I do??????????? thanks Bill Honan

Sounds like you're having a memory conflict. Try stripping your config.sys to files=50 buffers=30 (nothing more), and get rid of all unecessary tsr's and other stuff in autoexec.bat. See if 3DS will run this way – if it does then you can start adding things one by one, always checking to see if 3ds runs solidly. When you add the line that crashes 3DS you'll know it, and can start figuring out what to do. Usually it's a hardware device that is mapping rom where Pharlap wants to go, and this can be avoided by excluding ALL hardware rom mapping addresses in your memory manager's device= line (check docs for exact syntax).
