>>30 hours to render during which time anyone needing access to any of the PCs dedicated to the rendering job were locked out. With Render Garden we were able to accomplish the rendering while allowing others access to their PCs. If you bought 5 P90's instead of the render garden, wouldn't your animators still have access to their machines, in addition to rendering their jobs in 1/3rd the time it takes with the render garden? If someone could get 5 P90's for the same $ as the 5 486/66 Render Garden, I personally don't see the attraction of the Render garden. It would seem to me that the 3x speed increase of the P90's would more than make up for the trouble it may be to set up and network them. People doing heavy duty work will need heavy duty rendering power, and even though "plug and play" network rendering would be nice, I think most would opt for the 3x power increase and live with any setup headaches they might have, if the prices for the two are the same. And if the need arises for extra workstations, they'll be right there waiting, as opposed to having to go out and get more if you have the render box. I know they have not settled on a final price yet, but I think they'll get much more interest if they make it a more attractive solution, $ wise. I hope they take this into consideration. … just my opinion. David
