As many of you know, I play the question and answer guy for Planet Studio. I
need your help. What questions or types of questions would you like to see that
column answer?
Now I know, if you had a question, you would just post it here and not have to
wait for the article to be published for your answer. So I guess what I am
asking for is your most common questions or tips. For those of you who do
support, what questions do you get time and again, and would like for many
people to see the answers? For those of you in production, what tip or tidbit
of information have you run across that has made your life easier?
Also, I have the oportunity to write full length articles. So if there are any
topics you would like for me to explore in detail, let me know.

Off the top of my head here are a coupla' ideas for Planet Studio:
1. What's the best computer configuration for the type of work you intend to
do?
2. What's the best way to acheive a particular effect? (Glowing neon, live
action playing on an animated TV set, creating a forrest of trees, mapping
bricks on a complex building facade, architectural interior lighting, how to
make glass look like glass, realistic fabric textures, objects trailing each
other on the same path, adding titles to animations, etc.)
3. Where do I get? (Free meshes from Internet-CSERVE-BBS, meshes for a fee,
utilities, other support software)
4. How do I adjust/optimize my system for displaying consistent color for
print, video and VGA?
For added value and a way to justify the exorbitant cost for the magazine, how
about including a utility disk with each issue? You could include some .MLI
files, a simple IPAS, a few texture maps, etc.

Bob,
Good ideas, keep them, comming.
I will hold on to the article ideas to possibly include in either questions and
answer, or more depth articles for future releases.
As for the disk idea, I have no control over that, but I will be sure to
mention it to the editors as a good suggestion.
thanks.

Thanks for listening, I'd love to see Planet Studio succeed in becoming a
useful resource for me.

How about discussing POE<g>?

<<How about discussing POE<g>?>>
Yea, right.
Actually, Phil DeGeorge (please forgive me all for bringing him up) told me
several times that if someone knew POCO, they knew POE. They just didn't
realize it. A POE program is basically a compiled POCO program with just a few
extra calls thrown in to be able access function calls. Or so I was told.
Truthfully, I have as much experience with POE as you, Ed. Not much. But if it
is really a hot topic, I'd be glad to devote some time to learning it.
