Gary,
I am working with the structure section of Silicon Gardens. I want to
add some different types of geometry so that I can use it to create "cyber data
structures" for a game I am animating. Is ther any alternative data types that
can be entered in the .LS file that will work?
I am going to try changing some numbers, but I was hoping one of you
have taken this function beyond the version shipped in IPAS 5. I also want to
modify the parameters in treeN, etc. I need to make coral for a reef, and
bramble hedge rows. I also want to make thorn bush thickets that will have
spines in closeup.
Does Silicon Gardens resppond to LPACER or other .LS files?

I'm not sure exactly how Rolf and Hayes modified the LS format, but it
has been customized (and never documented, unfortunately). I'll run
this email by Rolf, however, and we'll see what he says.
Are you saying the LS files in Silicon Garden were derived from another similar
L-system format?
Also, did you get my message about the MCS format that you mentioned a week or
two ago? Is this file format documented?

Have you seen the first paragraph on page 12 of the SG ref man and the last
paragraph on pg 5?

Their basic concepts come from the Lendenmeyer book referenced on pg 12, but
the actual file format structure was defined by Hayes and Rolf. I've asked Rolf
to dig it up from the archives, and when he does I'll upload it here.
Re your email… I got back on Monday night to about 40 messages sitting in my
email-space, and I don't have any time to look at them until tomorrow
(hopefully, maybe). If you asked a question about whether or not the MCS file
format is documented, the answer is no. But if a developer was comitted to
developing a utility that required it, I'd consider pulling Tom off of what
he's doing for a few hours to write that up.
