Dale, I tried to print the iff image of a fax using Final Writer 2 and after about 2 meg in Postscript I gave up. Any ideas? Thanks, Ron

What?!? I'm not sure what that means, but it looks like you've gone down the wrong track entirely. Run GPFax. Configure it to redirect printer output as fax. From FW2, print as graphic, not as postscript, not to iff, not to a file. GPFax will magically grab the printer output and send it out as a fax. I do it all the time. Look at the GPFax manual if you need to. Dale L. Larson Intangible Assets Manufacturing (info@iam.com) "That's the best part about being crazy. You see things no one else can see."

We're backwards here. I know I can get gpfax to intercept printer output and fax it. I want a way to get GPfax to print out the fax I've received with as much detail as I can see on my 1084 monitor. The IIP output from GPfax loses most of the detail and makes the fax hard to read. The old fax board/software I used to use on my BB, from several years ago, gave very clean fax print output. Ron

Oh, sorry I misunderstood. Bump up the Density setting in your prefs/printergfx. That sounds like a likely cause of your loss of resolution. GPFax prints great to my 4MP. It is slow as all heck, but that really isn't GPFax's fault, just the fault of sending a lot of dots (600dpi adds up fast) over the parallel port.

If your printer has HP Laserjet support, use that. What happened was that the printer probably ran out of memory. Each pixel on that page is a LINE is postscript. Consider that "standard" fax resolution is around 100×100 dpi, this gives you 10,000 pixels/square inch. with 93.5 square inches on a normal 8.5×11 sheet of paper you get 935,000 pixels on the page. This will eat at least 115KB of memory for the image (uncompressed). When this is converted to a postscript image, the size of the image when it's transferred to the printer can increase over 10-fold. Not fun, and I've seen this before with people trying to print scanned-in graphics out of a word processor to a low-end PS printer. PCL mode (HP Laserjet) worked fine though… Brian

Understood. I only tried it because PCL mode output from GPfax loses most of the detail on my IIP. Ron
