#Amiga -> MS DOS

My friend has a document written with an Amiga program called Kind Words. I
would like him to save it as an ascii text file so that I can read it on my MS
DOS based machine. Can this be done? What are the steps? Thanks, in advance,
for any help you can give me! (Retyping this document would be a real pain in
the *!(%).

Bill,
I'm not familiar with Kind Words, but most programs allow you to
"print" to a file, or at least save as ASCII. It would be one of the menu
options or sub-items under SAVE, SAVE AS or PRINT.

Will Amiga write to my MS-DOS formatted 1.2M floppy disk? My machine couldn't
"read" the disk that my friend had. Thanks.

Only if you have a HD floppy. A4000s have them, and some few late A3000s
do. You can get them from dealers.

1.2M floppies are 5 1/4", aren't they? Do you mean that Amigas ever came with
them?

Oops, sorry, I don't know. I can never keep all the sizes straight (one
size for Amiga, another for IBM for high and low density 3.5 and 5.25").
Actually, I was wrong. My diskette is a 720K 3.5 floppy. His machine is an
Amiga 500 with (2) 3.5 Low Density drives. Can he save his file to my disk?

With CrossDos (originally a third party product, included with AmigaOS2.1
and better), yes.
I don't use KindWords. But, from looking at the manual, it appears that when
you select SAVE from the File Menu, you'll get a requestor that includes not
only a place to put in the file name, but also a set of buttons marked
"Document" and "ASCII file". Select ASCII FILE and you should be OK.
