John:
Thanks again for your explanation of the SyQuest drive. I will decide
whether I would benefit more from this type drive, or a 270MB HD. I do not
(at present) have a need for a LARGE about of data storage, so I am
leaning toward the bigger HD, although I do have a LOT of floppies hanging
around… I think the SyQuest comes in 105MB and 270MB sizes… is the
105MB substantially cheaper, and can I use an "off the shelf" model I
might find in a PC or Mac store or mail order (of course it has to be
SCSI).
Since you have an Emplant, maybe you can tell me a few things about that,
as I am planning on getting one in the future. First, how much memory is
needed to run the Emplant "comfortably", meaning enough for System 7 and a
good application without reaching limits? I currently have 4Meg Fast Ram,
2 Meg Chip. And — how much HD space does System 7 and a few applications
require? Would 120 MB be enough? And what is the difference between the
regular Emplant and the Emplant Deluxe?
Thanks again!
