I just received my Emplant Deluxe board for my A4000. I was told to obtain a
ROM image one could either buy and temporarily install a set of 256K MAC II
ROMs or dump the ROM image directly from an existing MAC they had. I planned
to do the latter. I've been through the documentation and found but a scarce
reference in one sentence to creating a ROM IMAGE "..on a real Macintosh using
the ROM_INFO utility." There is a file that came on the Emplant disk called
ROMINFO but it is not executable on my Amiga. When I copied it to an MS-DOS
disk to try to run it on the MAC, the MAC saw it as a text file because it has
no resource fork. AM I MISSING SOMETHING HERE OR DO YOU NEED TO BUY THE 256K
CHIPS AFTER ALL?

You can not copy ROMINFO using MSDOS format (that we will strip the MACBinary
data and alter any carriage return (13) character).
You will have to either BINHEX the file and transfer it (using MS-DOS format
would work ok then), or transfer it via terminal programs on the MAC and the
Amiga.

Put the file ROMINFO on a MAC formatted disk and try it again it is a
macintosh program.
You might need to get AccessPC for that real mac so it can read the msdos
formatted disk and see the file as an executable file and it should show
up correctly on the desktop.

ROMINFO is a Macintosh program. You need to transfer the program to a
Mac formatted diskette and run it on a Mac II/IIc/IIcx machine. The easiest
way to accomplish this is to have a machine running Amax and transfering the
file onto the Amax ;using FileTransfer. Then copy the file onto a Mac
formatted diskette. If you copy it onto a PC formatted disk, the file must be
transferred as a binary file. If you copy it as anything else or use some
translation during transfer then you will no longer have the binary original.
Another possibility is to try using the Emplant ConvertII program to
copy the file from the Amiga disk to a Mac diskette.
