My son and I enjoy looking for fossils from time to time. We found a good site for trilobites outside of Ottawa, ON (since bulldozed) but would like to know if anyone knows of any good sites in the Quebec area. Thanks.

Arthur — I don't know much about specific sites in Western Quebec. I just moved to VT (Essex Junction–near Burlington) a year ago. A long way away, but not THAT far. I can sometimes get a weak snowy picture from Ottawa on the TV. I have read a fair amount about the general geology of the area, and can possibly help some with some guidelines for where to look and what sort of rocks to look for. Where are you based, and how far are you interested in driving? What kind of Trilobites did you find?

Had really good luck finding trilobites at Collingwood, on the south shore of Georgian Bay, last year. Averaged about one/minute at the east end of the picnic area on the bay shore, quit after 20 to leave a couple million specimens for the rest of the world.
