A question of vision…
I picked up a C= 2002 monitor for cheap ($30 Cdn) and it's great; now I
can use my A 2000 in colour! The only problem is…
Now DCTV doesn't work with it. When I have the monitor cable hooked up on
the DCTV pass-through, I get no picture. It's not a big deal since my
DCTV sessions are done separately from my other Amiga use and I can still
use my old 1702 (remember that old C= gem? I've had it for a decade and
no problems at all!) and the mono output for starting up DCTV, but it's a
pain in the arse to swap monitors every day or two.
Does anyone know if this is a problem with the 2002 (made for IBM clones I
think, but looks like a 1084) or could it be a problem with the monitor
cable? Any help would be appreciated…
I have a 2002 monitor on my A500 (But I paid $250 for it new in 1989 :-\
). I don't have a DCTV, but I do have the PP&S Framegrabber. A while
back, I do remember that sometimes I would not get a picture. I found out
that it was the way I had my system set up. I had everything set up to
turn on at once with 1 switch. I believe this caused a delay in the Amiga
sending a signal to the framegrabber (via the parallel interface) to tell
it to use the passthru. The framegrabber was causing the problem, not the
monitor. I fixed this problem by having the framegrabber on a separate
circuit and switching it on a few seconds before the rest of the system.
It has been working now for 5 1/2 years.
The DCTV's composite side should work fine on the 2002. Just plug it into
the Video RCA connector on the back of the monitor. You can switch
between Amiga RGB and DCTV Composite using the switch located behind the
door at the bottom of the montior. If your door is missing, the switch is
in RGB mode when it is all the way to the right, and in Composite mode
when it is all the way to the left (The middle setting for the switch is
some other form of composite, I don't recommend it. It doesn't look good
🙂 I use my VCR with it. It gets a great picture from video sources.
Let me know if you have anymore questions. There was a flaw in the
manufacturing of this monitor that would cause it to pop and jump. I have
a text file on how to fix it if this happens to you.
