My computer crashes upon rendering whenever I use any kind of bitmap background. I have 32 mb and otherwise everything's ok. The only way I can render using a bitmap background is to load it as a layer in VP. I've tried unplugging boards, rendering to null device, turning off my network, and re-installing 3ds3. Please HELP!

Paul, << My computer crashes upon rendering whenever I use any kind of bitmap background. >> I don't have an immediate answer. However, what is the behaviour when your config.sys has *ONLY* 2 lines in it – files=# and buffers=# and your autoexec has *only* a path statement and a load mouse statement. What version of the vibrant drivers do you have? (1.0.4?) Also, what happens when you choose VESA COMPATIBLES when in vibcfg. please run this test and report your results. jonas[adesk]

Paul – I had exactly the same problem last week (I think) – I would put a background bitmap in video post, and as I left the VP dialog box – BINGO – little green bars across the top of the screen! My solution was to take a copy of my .set and vbcfg files (for the vibrant driver), and reinstall 3DS. Then I recopied the files back into the 3DS directory. Worked like a charm. Hope this helps. bob
