What is the current pricing structure for professional level classes? Is the price per day $150 or $200 or $250? Should lower level classes cost less than higher level classes? Also, for beginning students are 3, 4, or 5 day classes a better format. Where does the student start to feel overwhelmed?

Kevin…. At Vanier CAD/CAM our pricing starts at $90 per day and tops out at $ 150 per day (canadian dollars) (about 60 to 110 USD). IMHO this far too cheap because it causes us to run only when there is 5 people in the class… Very difficult for specialised classes. Make the intro stuff cheaper to attract the student. More advanced classes can be more expensive because less of your competition offer them. Also you will need to run them at lower numbers, and therefore your cost per student is higher. New Students tend to get a bit overwhelmed by about day 1 at 3pm. More experienced CAD users can go for 2-3 days before memory meltdown occurs. Roger C.

Kevin, Here at Gwinnett Tech, in Atlanta, we charge $299 for ALL of our Autodesk training. For 3D Studio we have a level I & II. Level is almost entirely dedicated to model creation with very little animation. Level II is all animation and advanced modeling techniques. I am very interested how other ATC's are doing it.

Kevin, Glad to here from you! At Moraine Valley Com. College the prices vary from $150.00 to $200.00 per 8 hour a day class. I know many ATC prices are less than this with some higher. Our 4 day Professional Level classes are 32 hours, cost is $595.00 How long should a class be???? Good question! If you really look at the ojectives of a Pro Level I class for example, the end outcomes would dictate that the class be 4 to 5 days in length. I believe that 4 to 5 days really gives the client a quality product when he/she leaves your class. I know that some professional level 1 classes are STILL taught in a 16 hour time frame. I cannot believe this is still happening! HOWEVER, within the last year a couple of us here have been attending seminars and workshops on class length issues. What is interesting is that we are being told that 16 to 24 hours is the MAXIMUM time someone can afford to be out of the office. 16 hours is what you should shoot for!!! The key is the outcomes you want your clients to leave your trianing session with. Advertise the class, the class length and the class outcomes. Good luck, J.C. Malitzke

J.C., << Advertise the class, the class length and the class outcomes.>> I am really interested in hearing more about the class outcomes you mentioned. I am currently developing a model curriculum that includes expected outcome for a student who attends an ATC class(es). Would be interested in hearing more about what you are doing in this area? Hi Kevin, this is Art Galindo. We charge $450.00 for a 32 hour ACAD Level I class. Books are extra. ($40). Minimum of 4 people in a class. We have three different types of classes, twice a week at night for 5 weeks, eight hours each for four Saturdays in a row and 4 hours a day, 4 days a week for two weeks. We found that in our marketing area, many professionals are still not computer literate and have little or no CAD experience (and rusty drafting skills). As we all know, many of them do not realize the complexity of ACAD and its learning curve. We do charge more for advanced level classes. ($50-$200). Hope this helps. REGARDS
