WINPLA.EXE is the Windows player for FLIC files. FLCSPC.ZIP, FLILIB.ZIP, and FLIC.ZIP will get you started with the file formats. Downlaod and go for it. -Brian

"I downloaded WINPLA but it failed to install properly, says the disk's full ( I ot 40MB free ) any ideas why?" You should check the free disk space on both the drive on which you have Windows, as well as the drive you're installing the player. I've had the experience of installing Window software on a drive which has lots of space, but be told there isn't enough. There are files installed in the Windows\System directory which could be on a drive without sufficient space. Other than that, I don't know. Nik

/* "I downloaded WINPLA but it failed to install properly, says the disk's full ( I ot 40MB free ) any ideas why?" */ Jus summo suggestions: Use CHKDSK/F at the command prompt, convert any lost clusters to files and erase them. See if there are any and if it works then. Make sure you're pointing to the correct drive. Disable networking when installing if possible (no mapping). Try it on a different machine to see if its file corruption on the source disks. -dave

( visible =false doesn' t ) happy Sookot holyday 🙂 -Dror

>> happy Sookot holyday 🙂 This is totally unrelated to your question to Brian but what is this holiday, and what country/religion celebrates it? Thanks, just culturally curious. <g> John

well John, Sookot lasts a week during which people are supposed to spend their nights in thathched huts they build in their yards. ( a sooka is a hut ). it's a jewish holyday celebrated in remembrence of our fore-fathers' transitory state on their escape from egypt. but since most of the grownups prefer to stay in their beds its mostly a chance for kids to stay out all night and raise hell. I hoped someone will ask…. Dror. Tel-Aviv

Dror, >> Sookot << Sounds like fun and I think I can imagine what that's like in the warm desert night. <g> John

what do you mean desert ?! the humidity is 85% here most of the time, and our number 1 export is oranges! (and programmers…)

<<There is a short TXT file included with VBPLAY.ZIP. Full documentation (Visual Basic Programmers reference) is included as part of the Animation Support Libraries developers kit.>> thanks for the address, I'll get that Kit sunday ( if they have it) meanwhile, since time is pressing… my VB question: >>What are you trying to make invisible? The form? just the animation control? >>give me more details please. I want to keep the animation control out of sight while it's not playing. — so I changed the "visible" property of the Anim Control to false – no effect –changing its BG color to the screen's is no good because the sprites (Blted by a DLL) crawl "under" the Anim Control –I tried to keep it very small until its needed but it seems to have a minimal size (about 10×8) which is to large not to be seen shouldn't take a genious to use the visible property, so it has to be a small silly mistake , either mine or the VBX's. -Dror

Dror– Re: your .vbx question: >>I want to keep the animation control out of sight while it's not playing.<< I had the same problem, but at least on my system, the solution was simple. Instead of using the .vbx properties box to change the visible property to false, do it with code: Animation1.Visible = False Then to make it visible again when you want to play it, use Animation1.Visible = True And so on. –Bill

<<it's a jewish holyday celebrated in remembrence of our fore-fathers' transitory state on their escape from egypt. but since most of the grownups prefer to stay in their beds its mostly a chance for kids to stay out all night and raise hell.>> In the United States, I think it is more casual than that. Most families do not build a sukot of their own, but the community will build one together at the synagoge or someones house. It is rare for people to actually spend the week living in the sukot, although I have heard of it being done. Also, the feeling seems as much or more a celebration of Fall and the harvest than a remembrance of escape. -Brian

Dror, <<is VBPLAY an autodesk product? if so:>> Yes it is. <<1) any fees on commercial distribution ?>> At the minimum, you will need a license agreement with Autodesk. Whether or not there are fees are determined on a case by case basis. Contact Max Hoffman at Autodesk by calling 415-332-2344 for details. Or e-mial him on internet at maxwellh@autodesk.com. <<2) where do i get its documentation ?>> There is a short TXT file included with VBPLAY.ZIP. Full documentation (Visual Basic Programmers reference) is included as part of the Animation Support Libraries developers kit. Call 800-964-6432 to order the kit. It costs about $25. <<3) how do i make it invisible ? ( visible =false doesn' t )>> What are you trying to make invisible? The form? just the animation control? give me more details please. <<happy Sookot holyday>> This year we are building a sukot in our back yard. We don't actually sleep in it, but it is nice for evening meals and the like. How did you know? -Brian
