I don't like Bix either, but the excuse for using it is that they'd archive
messages forever, and that is darn useful in a developer support area where you
had engineers giving detailed responces to complex questions.

Given that you have to figure out their terrible user interface anyway, it is
much easier to have all the messages for a few years in the message base and
accesable through one interface rather than to have some stored as files.
