Stefan, Can you be more precise about what happens when "the connection breaks down shortly afterwards". The strange characters are nothing to worry about. After you see them, that window should disappear. A few seconds later, since you are using AmiTCP-demo4.0-, a window should appear announcing AmiTCP4.0, on which is an OK button. This button is ghosted for a few seconds, and then becomes active. Click on this, the window will disappear, and shortly afterwards, another window should open saying "completed". You can then start Amosaic or whatever and surf the net! Pete

This sounds an awful lot like what I experienced at first. Make sure your serial port settings are 8-N-1 in Preferences, then modify your AmiTCP:bin/dialscript file to add a + as the first character sent with the "CIS" and userid lines, like this: WAIT "CONNECT" SEND "" WAIT "e:" SEND "+CIS" WAIT "D:" SEND "+71212,712/GO:PPPCONNECT" WAIT "d:" SEND "yourpasswordhere" Obviously, substitute your userid for mine… You'll probably still see strange characters being fed from CI$ to you, but don't worry about them.
