#Movieshop 2.6 Ships!
14 messages in this thread
A couple of folks asked me to post when Movieshop shipped. I recieved MS ver
2.6 yesterday. It has a TON of new features. The main one is AUDIO EDITING
within the MovieShop program. Sound is now editable separately from the video!
(For those of you using Gamma versions with Audio tools, the release version
has more, and the reorg "feature" that clipped the first part of a timeline
audio track has been fixed!)
There is also a new online help system using AmigaGuide or Multiview which is
accessable by pressing the help key while in the program.
For those using the 2.2 release (or those poor souls with the 1.2 version)
call Noahji's and get the new one! It will add a lot to your videos!
(The preceeding was NOT a paid announcement!)

Still no waveform though, right?
Mr. Zombie
>Still no waveform though, right?
No, no waveform within the MovieShop program. Music videos cut to the beat
would be a little more difficult, but not impossible. The audio recording and
audio cutting tools do display timecode, which could be used as a reference.
You can also split the audio envelopes and see the split on the timeline (but
not hear it if there is no actual volume change.) This could be used as a
reference.
My point is, it is MUCH better than the previous shipping version of MS,
which had NO audio tools to speak of…
Dale
Well, sounds about like 2.5, which is what I have. <G> But I'll get it
anyway.
Mr. Zombie
Paul,
Check the titlebar at the top of the program. They are shipping 2.6 on disks
labelled 2.5. It seems that the program was released in Germany as 2.5, but
then they found a few loose bugs and revised it again.
Dale
Naw, I got a beta 2.5 awhile back. I called Eric, so 2.6 should be arriving
soon. Now I'm just gonna have to write a bloody ARexx front end for it. 🙁
Mr. Zombie
Paul,

Sounds interesting. What are you planning!

Well, one thing that really ticks me off is that all trims done to a scene are
destructive to that scene, even though the footage doesn't get touched. I.e.
you can't set in/out points that will be used everywhere including the
timeline. So basically, all editing has to be done *away* from the timeline.
This is something I'd like to correct, at least by automating the background
process of going and making another copy of the scene, and presenting myself
with a requester that lets me set new in/out points, and then handling timeline
adjustments.
One thing that I can't do, though, is to provide the ability to turn on and off
different tracks on the timeline. This would provide great capabilities,
though, such as the ability to set up several different versions of a scene (a
real scene, that is) (and in conjunction with the in/out capability) and try
first one, then another.
One of these days, whether or not I start writing the extra tools, I'll
definitely write up all my gripes/suggestions and fax them to NoahJi's.
Mr. Zombie
Dale,
Yep! Got mine today. Still having fun exploring it. 🙂

Paul,
You are Summit Graphics, right? I got both Amiga Gang tapes, and I saw some
of your work. I use those tapes as a kind of inspiration… when I get tired
of wrestling with learning the software, I usually put one of those tapes in
the VCR. I hope that there will be an Amiga Gang III sometime.
So, what are you up to with VLAB-M?
Also, I am trying to convince Noahji's to set up a support area in AmigaVend.
We're still pretty early in the game… what do you think… would it be a good
way to get the word out about VLAB-M / DRACO ?
Dale
Dale,
>You are Summit Graphics, right?
Yep, that's me. All the stuff on the Amiga Gang tape was limited by the fact
that I had to fit an entire shot in memory to play the anim through DCTV. Now
with VLAB-M those limits are history! Add to that the fact that I can add any
kind of sound track I want and boy am I having fun! 🙂
>I hope that there will be an Amiga Gang III sometime.
Yeah me too.
>Also, I am trying to convince Noahji's to set up a support area in AmigaVend.

I've talked to Eric about this as well. They sure could use as much exposure
as possible.

Thanks Dale,
I'll be calling to get the full MovieShop 2.6 release soon :^)
I've been wanting to start a thread here to get some help with the audio
settings with MS. I've been using a Gamma vers. for a while (MS 2.5G11) under
WB 2.04 :^( The online help features would be cool, but most of the problem I'm
having are from some pesky critters.
Iwas getting a really bad pop at the start of a timeline audio track after
saving as new scene. You mean this is fixed?
Now that I got alittle more space for audio I've been experimenting more. What
do you think the optimum settings are for good audio quality versus maximum
performance?
I'm ready to u/g my system to kick the quality/performance level up all around.
Wish the 060 boards would start shipping…
Later,
….John
John,
On that bad audio pop at the start of a timeline audio track, try double
clicking on the new scene after you put it on the timeline. This brings up an
"Edit Audio Data" window. Pick "EDIT ENVELOPE", then "Split".
Place the crosshairs near the beginning of the scene (you might want to zoom
in on this to see it better) and click. Your audio envelope will be split into
2 "sub envelopes". Adjust the slider on the new one to start at 0% and end at
100%. That will fade the audio in on the new scene pretty rapidly, but slowly
enough to get rid of that annoying "pop" at the start. Render the audio and
play it back.
If you miss the mark the first time, "join" will join the two back together
as one (with the new envelope settings, which need to be set back where they
were unless you like a slow fade over the entire scene) and you can try again.
You can adjust the volume on your scenes like this to allow voice overs, fades,
etc. in the audio as well as eliminate that noise at the start of some scenes.
If you are adding a music track, and don't want the volume to dip on some
scenes, adjust the envelope to 0%-0% and render.
Dale
PS-Sorry it took a couple of days to get back to you. I made that original
post on AP, but had the Applications area turned off for message retrieval.
Just got these posts tonight when I figured out what was wrong!!
