Success !!! My MagaChip works thanks to you. Your initial suspition was, as
they say on the quiz programs, "correct". The Opal board needed tuned in. I
only found that out through sheer frustration (and a last ditch attempt 🙂
The only clue I got to maybe it did as you say need tuning in was that when
the display went corrupt after installing the new chip, it looked slightly
different. It took about 5 or 6 (frustration ?) turns of the little screw
before it started to look OK. Thanks.
That's a very generous offer on the vouchers but like you I'm not into
video, I to bought it to paint and use with Imagine but if I get ritch I'll
call :).
It's a pitty to here about the possible troubles that Centaur are having. I
still think OpalPaint is the best paint program by far on the Amiga and it
would be sad to leave it at 2.3b.
So there you go, stick that one in your note book ( data base 🙂 )for future

I'm glad it worked for you! Hardware problems can be so frustrating
sometimes!

According to John Seivers of Centaur the 2.3c version of the paint program
should be ready to ship in 6-8 weeks. This will allow us to use OpalPaint
along with ImageFX in a new way. ImageFX calls it a hook and you will be able
to load your picture into Opal through ImageFX, use whatever tools, etc. that
Opal has that ImageFX doesn't, quit Opal and the changes will show up in
ImageFX. This is the best of all worlds (at least regarding these two
programs) and I can hardly wait to see them working together.
What I'm hot for is the proposed 3.0 version of the paint program. Martin
Boyd (programmer) has promised that "anti-zoom" will be in that version. This
will allow one to zoom OUT (instead of in) and still be able to paint! 🙂

Thanks for the reply, I'm cruzin now :). Glad to here that they are still
developing this superb software…I'm just glad I can paint in Hires Overscan
at the moment <g>, I'll look forward to the ImageFX/Opal combination.
