Dale, << Life under x86? Puh-lease. Make it PPC.>> As an aside, have you heard about any specific Amiga software programs that have been found to have compatibility problems with the Cyberstorm 060 board. We are struggling with the decision to either go with an 060 or pick up an 040 accelerator like the 50mz Sonnet. Cheers, Marty ProActive Images Inc.

No. I've heard of about three people who have the board, though. Wait, yes, I know software that won't work. Anything that depends on the MMU. Enforcer. Virtual memory stuff. Unix. Some math stuff might be affected to (some tries to use the FPU directly, and I'm not sure if they kept the 040 FPU). Dale L. Larson, dale@iam.com el Presidente, IAM http://www.iam.com

Why won't software using 040 MMU functions work on the 060, Dale? Likewise, why won't FPU instructions work? I think they're the same as 040, but please educate me if I'm mistaken.

FPU stuff might be the same, I'm not sure. I think it was MKS who told me that the MMU stuff had all changed for the 060, the way it had for the 040 (Mike did 040.library, so he ought to know what he is talking about). Dale L. Larson, dale@iam.com el Presidente, IAM http://www.iam.com

Dale, thanks for the info – I hope someone has made a SOLID 060.library as there were various versions of 040.library before it got straight. I'd like to try a couple benchmarks on an 060 – just happen to have a FractalPro benchmark image which very precisely tests for raw processor-only FPU speed (and what else matters these days, anyway?).
