#Transparent Clouds Map?

Coincidently, I just completed a globe with swirling clouds for use in a
multimedia project I'm working on. These are several good globe maps on the
Internet – several of them orthorectified for placement on a sphere. Seamless
clouds may be made in Photoshop using the offset filter, or in Painter 3.1. The
use of texture 1 and opacity slots in the materials editor will work fine in
most circumstances, and I would add a greyscale version of texture 1 in the
bump slot, with the slider set to between 3 and 12, depending on which map you
are using.
Let me know if you need any further information on globes.

Robert,
Thanks for the marvelous information you were gracious enough to share about
creating realistic globes and cloud maps. I would be very interested in
learning more about the filenames and locations of at least one or two of the
most realistic-looking maps you said were available on the Internet (24-bit and
ortho-adjusted preferred).
Any further tools (if any) which can aid me in creating swirling clouds maps
would also be much appreciated.
The specific information you provided about the various 3DS map settings will
prove invaluable, as well.
Thanks again!!
Gratefully,
Lee

Perhaps I'll upload a project file zip with all the materials and a single
rotation of he globe to the library under meshes. Probably sometime this week.

Bob,
Thanks! Please drop me a quick e-mail message to let me know when you've
posted that project file(s).
Gratefully,
Lee
Hi Lee, I am new to this forum. I am interested in your cloud maps too. Could
you mail me or tell me how to get it out of the library. TKS
Like to chat sometime? (Jacksonville, FL).
The file you requested is neither mine nor one I've been able to download
myself. I now understand that it's available in this forum's Library 4 under
the file name GLOBE5C.ZIP.
Hope it works for you,
Lee
