I know this has come up before, but…. why do the faces of the inside of my hemisphere appear when I introduce a bitmap into my material? W/o the bitmap, the faces are smooth shaded just like a good Phong mat. should be. As soon as I add my bitmap of a star-filled sky, my faces appear. I have no shininess or strength in the mat.

—-Hi The material is phong, correct? It might be that your face count is just too low. If there are only 10 faces per circumference then the faces will be evident. You might try making a hemishphere with more faces. Phong is a method to make a surface _appear_ curved, but the bitmapping is still onto flat faces so if the angle between two faces is too extreme then the bitmap will appear bent at the edge. I'm not sure if this answers your question but I hope it does. —-Will

Definitely Phong. I'm pretty sure I tried this; I'll revisit to make sure. I do have a minimal face count in all obj in this proj. Thanks.
