#MAX Systems

Martin,
Somewhere in the mass of stuff I read at Siggraph, I read a sentence
saying that SGI had recently run Windows NT. I was hoping someone else might
be able to confirm this, but as yet it is still an unconfirmed rumor that I
started. Sorry if it is incorrect, but it would be nice….yes?
Snaford, keep in mind that while NT running on SGI's is one thing, having MAX
re-compiled for the MIPs 4xxxx platform is something completely different, and,
I suspect, fairly unlikely in the near future.
However, ya just can't second-guess a company like Adesk, can ya? A
wait-and-see attitude is probably the best bet right now.

Alan,
I waiting and seeing (hopefully). I just have to keep researching
until I discover the best platform. When I buy MAX and a new computer I want
to pick the right one. Do you know which model of Aplha Gary Y. said he was
testing MAX on? He made the comment some days back that he had an Alpha
sitting next to him in his office and that he tried MAX out every so often to
make sure it all ran OK….
I guess it doesn't have to run on SGI….but that would make it so easy
to get MAX into the big studios if they can just load it and run.

Can't say for sure, but Gary just may be running a DEC PC/XL with the Alpha
233Mhz chip. Only he knows for sure!
