Would it be possible to provide a % complete window in the rendering screen
that would give you a better feel for how long a particular rendering is going
to take? This could be on a switch so the user could use it during testing,
and turn it off during "render farming".
Something like PKZIP does where it shows the % of the file processed as it is
working, the the % compression after it is done.
I don't know if this is even possible. And it is low priority compared to
getting MAX out, but it would be icing on the cake if it was easy to do and
showed up unexpectedly.
Right now we have the red bar that shows how a certain item is progressing
(maybe transforming object, or creating shadow map).
But I don't know how many shadow maps are going to be created, or how many or
what percentage of transformations of objects are going to happen.
Therefore, I don't know when it will begin "Rendering" the image. It could be 2
minutes, or 2 hours before it begins rendering the image.
Obviously this is not necessary if you have to render them anyway, but during
setup and testing, it would be nice to know I have 1 hour to go talk to my
boss, or do something else before I can see my image anyway.
Thanks for considering this.
