#free ani player?
10 messages in this thread
need player like aaplayer that is free for sending along with animations to
clients.
is aaplayer free or are there other such players that can be downloaded?
Looking in the libs, you probably want aaplhi.zip from lib 7, and fax748.txt
from lib 19. fax748 talks about the inclusion of players on distribution
diskettes.

All of the Autodesk players available on this forum are freely distributable,
as long as you are not including them within a commercial application. (i.e.
you are not selling them as part of your own software package.).
Feel free to distribute them for the purpose of demonstrating your work.

if i produce a flc that i want to sell commercial is there an aaplayer type
program that i can download or buy that can be sent with my animation? if i
convert my flc to an avi file would that solve problem since everyone with a
pc can play it, so i am told? would there still be a problem for mac users?
thanks for claification. ed
Edward,
The question of which format you save your animation in has no bearing on the
legality of shipping a player along with your commercial application. If you
are going to include code for a FLC player, or a Microsoft player, in a product
that you are selling you would need permission from each respective company.
To include an Autodesk produced player in your application you may need a
licence agreement from Autodesk. The product manager for that is Brent
Blackett. You can contact him at 415-507-5000 or brent.blackett@autodesk.com
over the internet.
If you are not selling the product, you are free to distribute the Autodesk
players without any type of license agreement.

i understand that if i save my ani in avi format there is no need to send a
player since windows can play an avi animation? is that accurate? i have as
and convert to avi. thanks for info. i will use it.
edward
Not every copy of Windows can play an AVI file. It just depends on whether they
have installed an AVI player.

Hi Brian. Is the an ftp site I can point people to in my web page where they can
download aaplhi.zip or aaplay.exe?
Autodesk does not have an FTP site where these files are available. However I
am sure they are on other FTP/WEB sites on the internet. Perhaps someone on the
forum can point you in the right direction, or you can use some of the internet
based search tools to find them.
