WB allows you to build your own terrain in just about the same conceptually way
— you create a skeleton line and the terrain is "draped" over that. It's
almost ridiculously easy to model the surface exactly the way you want — truly
this is how it should be done.
You can take it into 3DS as a model, but your best bet is to use the model only
as a guideline, since WB does so much of a better job than 3DS at landscapes.
You can use Video Post for your final render and get the best of both worlds.
Hi,
sounds great. Do you now how much WB costs?
Now I will bury my self in Inside 3D-Studio for a while.
See ya/Joakim
This is true Mike, I forgot all about it and my copy is sitting right here on
the desk.
I haven't even had the chance to play with it yet since Siggraph. I was under
the impression that Joakim was more interested in modeling trees and plants he
could use in 3DS itself so I didn't even suggest Worldbuilder. From everything
I have seen so far WB creates some very nice looking scenery.

To be correct I don`t really now what I want to do. I mean I need to be able to
do trees and plant. But with my book "Inside 3D-Studio" You did get Vistapro.
And I thought it was a nice program but I want a program with more control.
So I don`t think anyone of you were wrong avout what I was going to do. I have
apprecieted everyones help and guidience of what software and hardware to get.
Thanks/Joakim

WB will cost you a lot, but in this case you really do get what you pay for. I
would suggest you ask Digimation to send you their demo videotape — my hunch
is that after you see it you'll never be satisfied with anything less.
And it surely is a program with control — one of the real neat things I like
about it is how easy it is to both specify exactly what you want and still have
the program generate rather "random" ground textures. Despite the price I
suspect this one is going to end up being a "must have" for any serious 3D
people.
Okey, I might do that. And see what it is. I mean I`m going to work with
visualization and maybe some animation. And you always needs trees or plants to
give your images more life.
How do I do if would by those Silicon Garden disc? Do I have to buy their hole
serie or can I buy just one disc? And which disc was it now that I should have?
For doing plants and trees.
Cause you said that WB would cost me a lot so I migth just start with the
Silicon discs.
Thanks/Joakim

Yeah, I'm not sure I remember exactly when I jumped in, but I wasn't the one
who mentioned WB first. However, as you play with it you'll see that you can
model trees and plants and import them into 3DS quite nicely. There is even a
whole procedural language that allows you to "grow" your own plants.
I have Silicon Garden and I suspect I'll still use it for that "outstanding"
tree or bush, but for the most part WB is going to be what I grow stuff with.
