AVID speed to copy file

Greg, I'm not sure about the defragging on the AVID drive. I do know that before I made this test, I removed everything from all of the partitions via the delete command. Then I recorded a clip until it stopped, thus filling up a partition. I then did a regular copy using a MAC command, not anything in the AVID, to copy the clip from one partition to another. Now, remember, I'm only using one hard drive. So, maybe it takes more time to copy since it has to both read and write. Using two different hard drives might have speeded up the process. If you still have the AVID, try doing a file copy on the same drive but on another partition. Let me know what you find. I still would not mind owning an AVID. Between the AVID and the Flyer, the features of both machines make one heck of an editing system. Fred
