G'day all, We have a person that needs to render out a single image, for printing across 5 separate posters, that will all be assembled into a single SUPER SIZE poster. To get the quality level required, the image would need to be rendered at about 38000×9000 Yecccht! The alternative would be to render the image in 5 separate sections, but how to match camera views etc so they would join up correctly. I suppose you could use 'render region' but does anyone else have a better idea? Any help appreciated! -Peter

Peter, Do you realy need that sort of resolution? I'm curently output 2×3 foot poster on a LaserMaster dodad with excellent result from file3300x2400 pixels with excellent results. From 3 feet away you can't tell its not a photograghic print. 3ds r3 has a render region thing but it seems to get confused on anything biigger than 1024×768. My guess is is that you can probably numerically sett up the coordinates of variouse cameras and render the thing in segments. Maybe from the comand line rendering batch files. Regards, Peter Kroko

Yeah, unfortunately this job calls for photographic quality at close scrutiny. Rendering with moving the camera is a problem as the perspective distortion screws things up… *sigh*

Peter, I did a project for Mclellan Air-Force base in sacremento which required the best of everything. We found that an image of a reasonable pixel count, output to a 4"x5" transparency than enlarged to photograghically to a big photograghic print was indistingable from a real photographic print because the pixels only slightly ounumbered the grains of the film. Peter did R4 correct that problem very soon I going to have to do some stuff higher than 1024, will I encounter the same problems? matt:)

Greg, To be honest, I don't know. Maybe someone else here can pipe in. For the things I have been doing I didn't see a compelling reason to upgrade though for many I know there are handsome rewards. For me I just can't wait to ditch this dos box <g> and take advantage of technology and reap the rewards of technology. Regards, Peter Kroko
