Martin,
Thanks for the advice. I work in the L.A. area for a game company and I am
looking for a local vendor who can help me now and in the future. There are so
many PC companies out here it's really hard to know who is knowledgeable and
who are just plain salesmen. If you have any suggestions as to a local vendor
or brand, I would appreciate your insight.
I did call Digital and they told me that the Alpha upgrade as of now is
$2500. This seems reasonable for the amount of power you will get out of it.
I was doing some investigation into other brands like HP, Micron, but I'm
just not sure what would be the best move. In the past, I have built my own
systems, but now it seems so impractical. Though, what you said about switching
out motherboards is probably the best way to go…which means generic. Thanks
for your time and assistance with this matter.
Sincerely,
Kyle A. Strawitz

what CPU is that? Apparently you can get 21164 300mhz motherboards for $3000,
if I remember correctly.
